Update from MAD HQ: Lautoka Sports Equipment

We regularly provide funds for sports equipment to support sports development and youth development in Fiji. Focussing mainly on primary school children the sports programme aims to improve discipline, teamwork and routine in children as well as providing an opportunity for them to exercise in a positive and constructive way developing their physical and interpersonal skills.

Rugby is the dominant sport but there is an increasing amount of choice for young sports men and women as football, netball, basketball, hockey, cricket, volleyball and swimming extend their popularity rapidly.

Women's sport is growing particularly fast with netball being Fiji's most played women's game and hockey becoming ever more popular. Women's rugby has gained a much higher profile and is played by many more women than was once the case as it was traditionally seen as a men only sport.
